With Song to Song, the languid sense of wonder is still there, but he has also added romance and even humour to this modern love story, set against the backdrop of the music scene in Austin, Texas. It follows the intertwined story of two couples, songwriter BV (Ryan Gosling) and wannabe singer Faye (Rooney Mara), as well as music mogul Cook (Michael Fassbender) and waitress Rhonda (Natalie Portman).
