Paris Is Burning
A unique record of the New York drag ball scene in the 1980s. Featuring amazing sequences filmed at the competitive ballroom events, and memorably honest, insightful interviews with various key people, director Jennie Livingston’s exploration of this important movement and its evolution is superb. The film played at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize, and at the Berlin Film Festival, where it won the Teddy Award for Best Documentary Film.
