Loosely based on the 1980s German queer novel So Schön by Ronald M. Schernikau, this is the story of four young queer and trans people in modern-day New York City. We watch as they go about their lives, loving each other, discussing politics, exploring different relationship dynamics, making art and taking care of each other. The observational style is interspersed with tender self-reflective scenes, and its ability to show intimacy in a natural, non-voyeuristic way is utterly refreshing. [18]
