The influence of artist, animator, designer and visual effects master Ray Harryhausen (1920-2013) is still felt in the film industry - from the big budget blockbuster effects of Hollywood to the small-scale productions with big dreams and bigger imaginations.

Ray Harryhausen

Ray last attended Edinburgh International Film Festival in 2008 - and the Festival has regularly showcased his work at the annual Film Fest in the City outdoor screenings in Grassmarket and St Andrew Square, including First Men in the Moon (1964) at this year's screenings.

Before every EIFF screening on Saturday 29 June, we'll be running a special short video to honour and celebrate Ray Harryhausen's life and pioneering career.

The National Galleries of Scotland's Ray Harryhausen | Titan of Cinema exhibition will run at Modern Two from Saturday 23 May to Sunday 25 October 2020. More information can be found HERE.

Edinburgh International Film Festival and Filmhouse look forward to celebrating the centenary of Ray Harryhausen with a season of special screenings - further details will be released very soon.
