Tommy's Honour, Jason Connery's drama about the early days of professional golf starring Jack Lowden and Peter Mullan, took home the prestigious Best Feature FIlm Award at last night's Scottish BAFTA Awards. The film screened as a world premiere for our Opening Gala at this year's EIFF.
Peter Mullan was also the recipient of the Best Actor Award for his pitch-perfect portrayal of affable homeless pensioner Hector McAdam in Hector, a World Premiere here in 2015.
The beautiful stop-motion animation No Place Like Home, which screened as part of 2016's Scottish Shorts programme, won the Best Animation Award. Cat Bruce's film, produced by Neil Jack, explores the struggles of a self-reliant woman to preserve her way of life when threatened with eviction from her countryside home. It was commissioned by the Scottish Film Talent Network.
The Best Short Film Award was picked up by Duncan Cowles and Ross Hogg's Isabella, a thought-provoking treatise on memory which screened as part of 2016's McLaren Awards: New Bristish Animation strand.
Edinburgh International Film Festival was delighted to screen all 4 films.
