A rebellious teenage girl in a small town crosses paths with a predatory stranger. With a screenplay based on the story Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been? by Joyce Carol Oates, director Joyce Chopra’s superb coming-of-age story features a magnificent performance from Laura Dern (her debut in a leading role) and memorable work from Mary Kay Place and Treat Williams. The film played at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize.
