Behind the Curtain: Retrospectives & EIFF

Part of the Unlocking the Archives Strand

Body

A special event with EIFF Senior Programmer Niall Greig Fulton and Rachel Hosker, Deputy Head of Special Collections and Archives Manager at the University of Edinburgh Centre for Research Collections, looking at the history of programming the EIFF retrospective. EIFF was the first film festival to present retrospective programmes of films, and has developed this strategy over the years, using cinema of the past to reflect on themes in the present. This will be a fascinating insight into the process of EIFF retrospective programming, reflecting on some of EIFF’s greatest retrospective successes, its regular celebration of often unsung female talent, and the repositioning of that work in a modern context.
