The absence of flexible working options within freelance Film & TV production has a negative impact on both individuals and the industry as a whole. Hosted by Amy Shaw of BECTU Vision, this panel session will discuss the challenges faced by the workforce and we’ll hear from job-sharers about their experiences of how this model can be a solution.The panel will include advocates for change: Sara Allen of Further & More; Natalie Grant of Share My Telly Job; Kirsty Glover, Outlander and Hope Dickson Leach, Raising Films. Following the session there will be an informal networking lunch to celebrate the launch of BECTU Vision’s new job-sharing initiative “TakeTwo”.

Women in Animation: The State of the Art

Behind great animations are great women. This session provides an intimate setting to discuss the animation sector today and what the future holds. Our featured guests will share stories on the barriers and challenges they have faced during their careers, as well as offer insights into the present animation landscape for experienced and emerging talent alike.

Moderated by award-winning Animator and Director Selina Wagner (Blobina Animations), panellists include Producer at Winding Snake Productions Amy Morris (Creepy Pasta Salad, A Bird in a Cage); Animation Consultant, Producer and Director of the British Animation Awards Helen Brunsdon (Ladder to You, The Pearce Sisters), and Senior Animator at Framestore Marion Strunck (Pokémon Detective Pikachu, Christopher Robin).

A Study in Scots: The Worlds of Animation

This showcase highlights the wealth of different work and roles to be found within the animation industry, from pencil to screen. Scotland’s most exciting and innovative animation companies and associated organisations will present their work, and team members will talk about their roles within the genre.

Following an introduction from Animated Women UK’s Scotland Representative Sueann Rochester, speakers will include Animator and Animation Director Vicki Haworth of SellOutAnimation, BAFTA-winning Composer Mick Cooke (Children’s Media Network Scotland/Too Many Cookes), Animator and Creative Producer at Eyebolls Victoria Watson (Ladder to You), Managing Director of Playdead Pamela Nelson and Lead Character Artist at Axis Animation Ekaterina Pushkarova.
