Film Hub Scotland Presents:

Film Hub Scotland returns to EIFF 2019 with a day of industry events for film exhibitors. This year we’re looking at community engagement and distribution, as well as providing networking and sharing opportunities throughout the day. This promises to be an inspiring event for any film exhibitor in Scotland, and a brilliant chance to spark new ideas and make connections.

Distribution and Programming
11:30 – 13:30
TRAVERSE THEATRE 2
EIFF Press & Industry Centre

Access: EIFF Passholders and FHS Members

Although London and the South East has traditionally been the home of film distribution, more and more distributors are setting up operation in Scotland. We are taking the opportunity to bring together the growing sector to meet with exhibitors, talk about their focuses and share information about some of the upcoming titles they are releasing. This will be followed by programming updates from BFI Major Programmes and the wider Film Audience Network.

Community Outreach
14:30 – 16:00
TRAVERSE THEATRE 2
EIFF Press & Industry Centre

Access: EIFF Passholders and FHS Members

Interested in working with specific groups or making new connections in your community? Morvern Cunningham, Director of LeithLate, will share her experience and advice for working with local communities and engaging audiences. Also–tying into the EIFF 2019 focus on Spain– we’ll hear from CinemaAttic about their recent projects. With plenty of opportunities to ask questions and share your experience.

Member Presentations and Structured Networking
16:30 – 17:30
TRAVERSE THEATRE 2
EIFF Press & Industry Centre

Access: EIFF Passholders and FHS Members

The return of the member micro-presentations that we first ran at Glasgow Film Festival. Members get 5 mins to present ideas, challenges, opportunities or share a recent event or screening with fellow members. It’s a whistle- stop tour of the most exciting things happening in the network. Then we’ll break out and take the opportunity to meet someone we’ve never met before; come and forge a future partnership, learn about a new opportunity or start a beautiful friendship.

Reflection and Wrap Up

TRAVERSE THEATRE 2

London Short Film Festival Presents: Short-Lived: Maximising Your Film's Festival Journey
15:30 – 16:45
TRAVERSE THEATRE 1
EIFF Press & Industry Centre

Access: EIFF Passholders  and public sign-up event.

The trajectory of a short film tends to be towards online video platforms, meaning that audience interest and attention is constantly replenished within the digital realms. However, exploiting the professional gains that your short film can generate during its festival run is a far more fleeting matter. Playing at a festival can be beneficial to building industry connections for future filmmaking projects, as well as forming invaluable relationships with festival programmers. But what are those programmers looking for? And what’s the most effective strategy for maximum festival success?

This panel will be moderated by Philip Ilson, Artistic Director of the London Short Film Festival, with panellists including Lydia Beilby, Shorts Programmer for Edinburgh International Film Festival; Matt Lloyd, Director of Glasgow Short Film Festival; Mary Dossinger, Programme Manager of RiverRun International Film Festival and Kyros Kikos, Programmer for Winterthur International Short Film Festival.

Presented by London Short Film Festival
