If you’re aged 15-19, passionate about cinema and would like to learn about curating, writing about and presenting films at a prestigious film festival, then Young Programmers is for you! Applications are currently closed, but check back for updates.
EIFF Young Programmers is an excellent opportunity for young people who are serious about film to take part in a well-established, vibrant and innovative film festival.
Young Programmers meet at Filmhouse, Edinburgh to watch and discuss a wide range of films and learn about film programming.
Young Programmers have curated a programme of short films and watched and recommended new films for the Festival. Previous Young Programmers have written copy for Festival publications, hosted Q&As with visiting filmmakers and worked as part of a team to present exciting new cinema for other young people. All participants have an opportunity to meet filmmakers and industry professionals using their EIFF student pass, which gives access to industry events, press and industry screenings and lots of other great events and benefits. In return, we ask that participants to show commitment and enthusiasm and provide us with a review of their experiences at EIFF. Check out our EIFF Youth 2019 highlights reel here.
We are not currently taking applications for 2021, but keep an eye out on our website for the latest updates!
EIFF Young Programmers is supported by The Foyle Foundation and Young Start.
EIFF Young Programmers is funded through the PLACE Programme, a partnership between the Scottish Government through Creative Scotland, the City of Edinburgh Council and the Edinburgh Festivals.
